Our six regions and Wales have developed their own contributions to achieving the aims set out in our corporate strategy.
These regional contributions, and the corporate plan for Wales, will give local meaning to Creating a better place 2010-2015 and communicate local priorities. They will guide the work of our regions and Wales over the next five years by defining outcomes at a local level, and will explain what the region will do for people and the environment.
Anglian
Our regional contribution offers the visionary overview of what will be new and different for Anglian Region over the next five years. It highlights our four areas of focus for the region – flood risk, growth, agriculture and efficiency – and how we will be contributing towards the themes of the Corporate Strategy. Twenty years from now is not a lifetime away, but what we do over the next five years will make a difference. The time has come to protect our region and our environment for ourselves and for future generations. We must all act now.
Midlands
Our regional contribution sets out how we will work with others to protect and improve the environment for people and wildlife in the Midlands Region over the next few years. It will guide our work to ensure we help deliver the aims of our national Corporate Strategy, Creating a better place 2011-2015.
North West
This is the North West Region's contribution. It sets out how we will work with others to achieve environmental outcomes for our region. It will guide our work in the North West for the next five years to ensure we help deliver the aims of our national Corporate Strategy, Creating a better place 2010-2015.
South East
Southern and Thames regions have merged to form South East region. South East region covers London and the south-east counties down to the coast, and includes the entire basin of the River Thames.
South West
Our regional contribution sets out how we will work together to protect and improve the environment in the South West. Our region is an incredible place to live, work and play. We have 191 of the 495 bathing waters in the UK and 700 species of plants and animals that are of national conservation concern. Over 75 per cent of land in the South West is used for agriculture, yet we have some significant urban areas, with a rapidly growing population. We face some unique environmental challenges and want to work with you to address those challenges over the next five years.
Yorkshire and North East
Our region stretches from Chesterfield right up to the Scottish border, taking in a diverse range of urban and rural environments and offering unique challenges. With 7.3 million residents, it includes large cities, major ports, important rivers and some of England’s most stunning landscapes. In the last two decades we’ve seen major improvements in the quality of our air, land and water. We will keep building on the progress made to make Yorkshire and the North East a better place for people and for wildlife.
