Our expenditure

The Environment Agency delivers flood risk management, environmental regulation and other environmental services across England and Wales. Its staff of just over 11,500 operate out of local offices and a number of depots and sites. The Environment Agency’s Head Office is in Bristol, with a further office at Millbank in London. The nature of the work of the Chairman, Chief Executive and Directors requires a significant degree of travel in England and Wales, with early starts and late finishes necessitating overnight stays.

So that the Environment Agency can remain effectively networked with the European Commission and environmental regulators in other countries, some foreign travel is required.

To minimise carbon emissions, travel in the UK is mostly undertaken using public transport, with best value delivered both for travel and for hotel accommodation through the Environment Agency’s procurement contracts.
