We published An environmental vision in 2000, our 20 year aspirations for the environment in England and Wales. It set out our long term goals for the future under nine environmental themes:

The environmental challenges that need our attention won't wait, so we've brought our next corporate strategy forward a year.

Creating a better place 2010-2015

On Tuesday 10 November 2009 we officially launched our new corporate strategy, Creating a better place 2010-2015. It sets out our aims for the next five years and describes how we will continue to work with others to tackle society's environmental challenges.

There are some big challenges to face in the coming years. Climate change, population growth and unsustainable resource use will all put significant pressures on the environment. That’s why this strategy is our most important yet. 

Our vision is still relevant, we still want to create a better place for people and wildlife. But we have revised our nine themes to five key areas:

Our new strategy comes into effect from April 2010. Regional contributions and the Corporate Plan for Wales are currently being developed and will be published in January 2010.

Consultation on our corporate strategy 2010-2015

We would like thank all of the people who contributed views and ideas, and provided comments during the consultation of our corporate strategy. The feedback we received was comprehensive, constructive, encouraging and, in some cases, challenging. These inputs have enabled us to further shape and enhance our strategy.
