We not only look after today's environment, but tomorrow's too. In a changing world protecting the air we breathe, the water that surrounds us and the land we walk on means we must be always searching for new ideas, increasing both our understanding of science and our impact on the planet.
To help us achieve these objectives we invest a small proportion of our overall funding to support a group of scientists from different disciplines. They work on a range of research projects across our entire organisation. We also work with external consultants and organisations when they can bring special expertise to our studies.
In terms of climate change and flooding, we need to increase our knowledge in many areas: new advances in engineering, emerging patterns in the ecosystem, changes to our society and lifestyles, and the way our economies will develop. All this information feeds into how we plan for the future.
