The Local Authority River and Coastal Engineering Foundation Degree was co-created with The University of the West of England and Middlesex University's Flood Hazard Research Centre. It combines practical skills development with theoretical learning.
Application for this programme is now closed.
You’ll join a local authority on a two-year training and development programme, rotating through a number of teams and gaining exposure to a wide range of areas. At the same time, you’ll attend the University of the West of England for six, one-week study blocks. And you’ll complete a number of e-learning assessments and a major project each year.
To make sure you’re fully supported, you’ll be paired with a mentor who’ll be there for you throughout the whole course. For three days a week you’ll train with one of our teams on real projects, the remaining two days you’ll spend studying towards your foundation degree. There really couldn’t be a better start to your civil engineering career.
What you can expect
A £12,000 annual training allowance is provided, which is free from Tax and National Insurance contributions. Tuition fees, textbooks, accommodation during your weeks at University and travel expenses to and from University will be paid on your behalf. You’ll also receive 20 days holiday per year.
