Cuckmere and Sussex Havens

We are pleased to announce the completion of the Cuckmere and Sussex Havens Catchment Flood Management Plan (CFMP).

The Cuckmere and Sussex Havens CFMP identifies long-term policies and actions that we need to take over the next 50 to 100 years to deliver a better, more environmentally sustainable approach for managing flood risk.

The plan will help us to plan for the likely impacts of climate change, future land use change and further development in the catchment area and provides a strategic direction for guiding our future flood risk management investment, efforts and resources in the Cuckmere and Sussex Havens catchment.

The full plan provides:

  • details of the physical characteristics of the area;
  • an assessment of flood risk from tidal and non-tidal rivers, sewers, groundwater, surface water;
  • an assessment of how this flood risk could change in the future;
  • the objectives, policies and action plan for the area.

The CFMP and its appendices can be obtained from:
